Participants will examine and compare questioned footwear impressions to known shoes, then report results using the SWGTREAD 7-point scale of conclusions.

Sample Description: A digitally downloadable .tif file of questioned imprints/impressions, inked known exemplars of the suspect shoe soles, and the suspect shoe soles. A variety of substrates (such as paper, tile, wood, and drywall) are combined with different imprint media (blood, ink, paint, etc.) for examination and comparison. Due to large file sizes, advanced photo image software may be required to open and view these images. With tests consisting of digital test materials, participants are not limited to only on-screen comparisons and may use any other method; however, due to differences in printing technology, CTS cannot guarantee the quality of images printed from digital media. The images are the same as those used in Test 5331, and reporting aspects are combined.

Digital test materials are made available in April.

This test is included on CTS' Scope of Accreditation to ISO/IEC 17043.
