Participants will compare a questioned shot pattern with known distance standards to report the distance determination range using pattern recognition; chemical processing is not a component of this test.

Sample Description: A digitally downloadable .tif file containing images of the questioned shot pattern, known distance standards, and three supplemental sets of exemplar shot patterns, taken at each known distance, intended to bolster participant confidence in their conclusions. With tests consisting of digital test materials, participants are not limited to only on-screen comparisons and may use any other method; however, due to differences in printing technology, CTS cannot guarantee the quality of images printed from digital media. The images are the same as those used in Test 5306, and reporting aspects are combined.

Digital test materials are made available in October.

Additional Information: Digitally downloadable test materials, as well as response forms for all test formats, are only available on www.cts-portal.com. The information necessary to access the test materials will be provided via email to the primary contact on file on the day of the test release.

This test is included on CTS' Scope of Accreditation to ISO/IEC 17043.
